  • Ripped off ???

Today I bought my first bottle of "Ultimate Quik Detailer".
I noticed it smells like CITRUS or LEMON, and it is also color White.
The reason I think I might have been ripped off is because the young men working there (in my local store) seem very strange and they might have changed the original liquid with a floor cleaner.

Please answer as soon as you can, in case that I need to go ask for a refund.

    Thanks.

    Hmm...

Here is what UQD looks like against a black background:

It has a milky look to it.

Do you have any other products to compare the scent to? For example, NXT 2.0 smels very similar to UQD. It has a slight lemon scent (in my opinion), but it's not like Lemon Pledge strong.

Sounds right to me. Why don't you go to another store, buy another bottle of uqd. Then compare the 2. If they look and smell the same, then everything is right. If not, go back to the first store and get your money back.

If you have strong concerns or any reason to believe that an employee of the store where you purchased this has contaminated this product then simply take it back to the store where you purchased it with your receipt and ask to see the manager or store owner and express your concern to them and they should either refund your money or replace your bottle of UQD.

More importantly they needs to be aware that they may have a problem employee. This is serious business because if you're wrong it could affect someone's job wrongly and in todays economy and job market this is serious business.

It's hard to think an employee would be sabotaging our products or any products as there's not much of a motive for such actions and the consequences for getting caught are serious enough to take away any perceived benefit to the employee.

          What would their motive be?

Chances are highly likely there's no problem.

What store did you buy this at?
          What are you working on?
What product do you usually purchase for a quick detailer?

Also, I deleted your duplicate post on this same subject, on discussion forums it's only necessary to post a single thread for a topic.

I agree with Michaels go to a different store and buy another bottle and compare them.
If they are the same and I'm betting they are then you are not out anything because UQD is one of the best QD's on the market and so you will want to keep using it.
Having two bottles of it is no big deal a have two gallons of M135 sitting on the self and that is the same product.

Sounds like normal UQD to me too.

On a side note...back in the day when I worked at a high volume shop we used Car Brite products. I had used them before at another shop and was very familiar with them. At this new place the local distributer was scamming us on our products. We would buy 5 gal size of products, like an interior dressing, and the seal would be gone, and the dressing would be watered down.

I know a kid who used to buy products from a store, take them home and put most of the bottle in a bottle of his own and fill the rest of the origional with water and return them. The employees woulnt bother to check and threw them rite back on the shelf.

Im pretty sure he did it mostly with Turtle Wax Ice tho....figures

                    Re: Ripped off ???

Okay guys, I took the bottle I bought and then put the liquid in a transparent glass, after a minute or so I had two kinds of liquid separated almost like oil & water. Obviously there was something wrong, so I went back to the store with the bottle of UQD and spoke to the manager. There were 3 bottles of UQD for sale on display, we did the same procedure. One out of those three had the same strange mix (like bleach and floor cleaner, cant tell for sure) then he took a bottle from storage (still within a box as he said) and compared again. The color and the smell was very similar when shaken. He said he fired 2 employees 7-10 days ago because they were stealing other products, he didn't know about the UKD. Well at the end he said they will check all of their products to see if they find more tampered products. I got my money back, then I went to another store and bought the original classic red bottle of QD.
All this happened in Hermosillo, Mexico, here I paid $259.00 mexican pesos ($21 dlls) for the 'Ultimate Quik Detailer'. Very expensive.

                    Thanks for your help

Well, everything worked out in the long run. Glad your suspicions were correct. I wonder if the fired employees did detailing on the side?

Did these bottles have the sealed "for your protection" label on them?

Nope they didn't have any seal saying "For your protection". But they had a small piece of plastic just above the trigger. What I think those boys did was to take off the head and unscrew the rest of it. Then replaced it with some other cleaner.
                          Thanks.

It would be a shame if someone had this happen to them and didn't realize!
It would alienate them to Meguiar's great products (It would be their loss)

I have had similar stunts pulled (not detailing related), and it is angering

German-I am sorry for your experience! Please realize this was out of Meguiar's control, and they truly make the best products.

                              good luck in the future
