  • What's wrong with my PREMIUM NATURAL CHAMOIS?

I had to purchase a few bottles of NXT Glass Cleaner, a few bottles of NXT Tech Protect, etc from Meguiars earlier this year to stock up for car show season. I wasn't in dire need of a chamois, but I really like the Meguiars name so I figured I would add one to my cart just to try it out. After years and years of use, my old one finally gave out.

I opened the pack to my new Meguiars chamois about a month ago. Since then I've used it about 2-3 times. I went to use it today and it's unusable. It's hard to explain, but it's literally falling apart. It's very slimy so it's extremely hard to get a grip. It also won't glide across the car. I've been detailing cars for years and I've never had any problems with anything from Meguiars.

    Interesting...

Our chamois' went through vigorous testing (did some myself) and the falling apart was never an issue.

Might I add the following regarding a chamois... You should soak them in a bucket for a bit before using, this will help with the typical new chamois slim feel. In addition, a chamois will never have the glide a microfiber or towel will have. All true "chamois" will have that drag feel to them when drying a car....

Have you tried washing it or soaking it in hot water that normally helps my chamios.

I have exactly the same problem as Rick does with exactly the same symptoms. Chamois is the first Meguiars' product that really disappointed me. It looks as if part of the cloth which was covered by the paper label is ok while the part which was exposed deteriorated. I used the thing twice and it looks as if I've been using it for years. I am afraid it won't survive another use.

I do not know if the problem is fixed now, but I just bought a natural chamois today and I love it. Did you wash your chamois before your first use? If not try washing it and see if it takes away the slime. To wash take lukewarm water and some soapy, put the chamois in and mix it around wring it out a few times and rinse.

Yes, I did wash it. But, as I said before, I believe my chamois was stored for too long and when I bought it the part not covered by paper packaging was already deteriorated. I do not know, maybe it was exposed to sun or sth??
