  • Problems with quick detailer

    Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum stuff. I've been painting show cars and detailing cars for 28 years and have used many products on the market. I now mainly use Meguire products. Here's my first question: I have use quick detailer since it came out and its always produced a great shine on any color car. My problem is: last week I purchased a new Saturn Sky in black and when I use the quick detailer it leaves a haze that keeps coming back no mater how much I wipe it clean. I always use the quick detailer in the garage and out of the sun. It is a new bottle of quick detailer I'm using, did it get reformulated? Why is it doing this? Last week when I had this problem I washed the car with dish soap and stripped off the wax and rewaxed the car with Meguires cleaner wax and it looked great. The reason I'm writing in this forum is because I'M NOT HAPPY that I have to redetail my brand new car......its a lot of work. So whats the deal?

Came out in 1981, so you've been using it for a long time!

Does the paint have the hazy look after you wash and dry it?

Or only after you mist on the Quik Detailer and wipe it off?

Meguiar's products are reformulated when new technology becomes available to improve the performance of the product. That's R&D's territory and they're the best in the business.

No idea. This is a great product with a success history longer than most other product have been on the market, (27 years).

We appreciate you joined the forum to let us know you're not happy with this product and because you have 28 years of experience painting and detailing cars we can pretty much rule out any fault on your side. We're not sure why Quik Detailer isn't performing on this paint system on your car but at this point it might be best to call our Customer Care Hotline and cite this thread and see what they can do for you.

Maybe they can send you a bottle of our new Ultimate Quik Detailer and you can give it a try and see if that solves the problem.

      Re: Problems with quick detailer

Thanks for the response Mike. To answer you question, I just sprayed it on and wiped it off. I couldn't wipe off the haze. Since the last message I washed the car with mild dish soap (more aggressive than Meguires car soap) and it took away the haze. I use the quick detailer on my 1969 Skylark convertible thats also black and it works great. I will call the hotline and see what they suggest.
      Thanks again,
      Tim

        Re: Problems with quick detailer

I'm suspecting there is something (excess wax thickness?) on the surface of the car, that the Quick Detailer is partially removing and streaking. The quick detailer is usually pretty good about going along with the towel/evaporation, and taking a bit of whatever residue may be under it. So I doubt it's the quick detailer you're seeing.

          Re: Problems with quick detailer

An old thread but, the Quik Detailer did the same thing to my Black Z. I did the whole car then noticed some haze on the hood afterwards and it would wipe right off seemingly with the microfiber towel, but sure enough it would come right back. I only use Meguiars products on all of my cars, so not a bad combination of chemicals.

The Ultimate Detailer works to remove it, you can use the UD and the haze will come off and won't come back.
