  • Confused

    Mike,
The more I read these threads the more I get confused. One post will say to use this Meguairs product for fine scratches, while another post says to use this and that and the other thing.

My Mach1 is dark gray with a lot of metallic in it. It has either some water spots or very faint etching on it, so faint that you really have to be looking for uit, but its there just the same... enough to bother me. No one else seems to notice - you know how that goes.

I bought the PC DA Polisher from Meguairs. I was going to try:

    1. Wash and clay
    2. Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner with 8006 pad
    3. Swirl remover (can't even remember which one, 9 I think) with 8006 pad.
    4. NXT Polish with 9006 pad

Does this sound practical? Should I use something like DC #2 polish after the swilr remover or is this double work?

Any other suggestions? Could you PM me so I don't clutter up the boards? Thanks a million.

    Hi DSG,

Sorry about the confussion in using our products. You have what sounds like a pretty good sytem. The only thing I would change is the elimination of Swirl Remover #9. You are using the Medallion Paint Cleaner and the NXT Wax. Both of these products help to remove fine scratches and swirls. Thus there is really no need to use Swirl Remover.

Remember to run the machine at speed 3 or 4 and use a seperate pad for each product.

Happy buffing and let us know how it comes out!!!

    Regards,

    Tom

Thanks for the input, Tom. Funny, but the Meguiars help line said to use it too. So I will see what it looks like after teh Medallion, and go from there. I assume thats probably what most of you are doing.

      Thanks again.

DSG Man: I've got a DSG Mach as well and bought the Meguiar's pc + products in Nashville.

They are right about not needing swirl remover. The Medallion with the 8006 pad should do the swirl removal just fine.

One of the critical things I've learned is not to rush the work. Do a section for a couple of minutes, wipe with an mf towel and guage your work. Some areas will require more time than others.

I'm driving to Springfield Illinois next week for the MCA Prairieland Roundup event. Hope to see you there.

I would just like to chime in on what Tom said,

While you can get away with going to NXT right after the Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner, the Medallion Premium Paint cleaner is a dedicated paint cleaner, sure it has Meguiar's TS Oils in it, but if you want the ultimate results, and you don't mind performing a 3-step process, then I would recommend following the Medallion Premium Paint cleaner with a dedicated cleaner/polish like the #9 Swirl Remover 2.0, or the any of the other cleaner/polishes, or even a pure polish like Deep Crystal Polish or #81 Hand Polish and then apply the NXT.

by the way, I never did get back to you via phone, if you PM me you phone number I would be happy to give you a call to discuss this or any other topic. I'm currently uploading pictures for the Bora and Corvette makeover so I can easily multitask.
