  • NXT wax DOES have an expiry date (not very happy)

Not too long ago I posted a question asking if anybody knew how long the NXT wax was good for. I purchased a bottle of it while on vacation in the States last July. It was never opened and was always kept inside my house. Everyone here seemed to agree that the wax should still be ok

This morning I'm getting ready to wax the car. By this point I've already used the clay bar, gone over it with the polish, and now ready to apply the NXT wax. I give the bottle a good shake and I start spreading it over my hood. Suddenly I notice that there's hard bits of crud mixed in with the wax. It looked like grains of salt (but larger). So I gently wipe down the hood. The towel and sponge applicator is just covered with the bits. I was upset because I just finished getting some scratches buffed out from my hood and wasn't sure whether these bits did any damage to the paint.

So while I washed down the car a second time, I had my sister go and buy a new bottle of NXT wax and managed to get the car waxed without any problems.

I'll have to look at my hood in the shade and make sure there's no new scratches. I guess that old bottle of wax is now garbage and I'm out of the $15 US I paid for it. The exact same NXT wax cost me nearly $30 CDN at our local Walmart.

In the past, I've had bottles of wax that were like a year old and they never had any bits in them. Is it possible that I got a bad batch?.

I'll post pictures of the car later tonight.

    Hey,

Firstly, I have edited the inappropriate language/tone in your post. This is a family forum and we will not tolerate language that is not suitable for the whole family.

Secondly, while I understand that you are upset, I can assure you, that your experience is definitely not the norm. Though you may not have left it outside to freeze etc, that unfortunately does not mean that something did not happen to it before you got it.

I was an original lab sample tester of the original NXT. I still have the bottle from years ago and it is just fine as the day I got it. So again something must have happened to your bottle.

I would suggest that you contact Meguiar's Customer Care and explain to them what has happened, source this thread if you would like, and I am sure they will take care of you.

Took me awhile to find this thread. I thought it had been deleted. When you guys move threads into a different forum, don't you normally post a link or something?

I'm still new to this website and I did read your forum rules when I joined. I realize you guys won't tolerate inappropriate language like the F-word but how was I suppose to know that using a slang word for "having a leak" was also included?. That's fine, it's your website and if you don't want me using the word, I won't.

Hey, this experience hasn't turned me off from using Meguiar's products. I was only curious to know what would cause this wax to go bad. I've used NXT wax since it was first introduced and don't have any compliants except for this experience I had today.

I might call customer service but I'm still awaiting a response from an e-mail I sent to them earlier in the week (Meguiar's Canada).

Returning the bottle back to the store will be out of the question. I bought it in Ohio while on vacation. I live in Ontario.

I'm not going to worry about it now. I'll just toss it away and forget about it. It's only money.

It sounds like your customer service is pretty good in the States, but the Canadian branch doesn't reply to e-mails to quickly. I had inquired with them about getting some Hyper-shine. Can't find it anywhere up here. Half of the suppliers that they list on the website (ie: Canadian Tire, Walmart) don't carry a full line of Meguiar's products. So it's hard to find some of these things. That's why I was hoping that Customer service could help.

I would suggest calling them like stated above...e-mails aren't usually a great form of communication when trying to explain your problem and get a replacement bottle.

I've had problems with a couple of products before and one phone call to the 800 number posted above was all it took to get a replacement product and sometimes even something extra.

Sometimes I'm posting fast and furious and I don't realize or look to see if a member included where they live when they registered when I reply... (most people don't have that under their forum name.

                My bad...

I'm sure Meguiar's Canada will be in touch with you.

As for language on this forum, are rules were based upon this criteria,

If my Grandparents and/or my kids can't see it or read it then it can't be posted to the forum. We keep this forum family friendly in words and pictures, there's already plenty of other forums where bad language and non-car related photos can be posted and seen.

                Thank you for understanding.
