    But you haven't quoted any...

I'm not sure but I think I was just dissed by a 16 yr old!

FYI: common ingredients of all the so called microfiber detergents:
EDTA: a chelating agent which is a common engine degreaser and used in many hand cleaning products
    Surfactants: basically detergent
    Aqueous solution: WATER!

Now, don't get me wrong, these solutions do indeed work very well, it's just my opinion that paying $29 a gallon to get the same results for 1/3 that cost is a waste of money.

Now as far as temperature is concerned... when we process fabrics, specifically after they are woven or knit and they need to be either made white or dyed a desired color, we use very high pressure/high temp dying machines. Believe me when I tell you, these pressure cookers are far hotter than your houshold water or dryer and cause no damage. Here's a picture of one.

I am not trying to diss you, im no expert when it comes fabrics but i know what experts tell me, now you are an expert i assume, 30 years is quite a bit of experience. I haave conflicting data, what you say and what the manufactures say. that puts me in a tough spot. i dont under stand if what your saying is correct, why would all of these microfiber makers say to not dry them on high heat?

What manufacturers have you spoken to or referring to? I don't know of any other manufacturers that post on any of the forums.

I believe Thejoyofdriving was referring to information found on microfibertech.com A quote from their website... You can wash and dry your microfiber products in your household washer and dryer, with warm water and low heat.

I can not say for sure where the melting information comes from, but it seems to be pretty common misinformation.

I will admit that before I read some of Leos advice I was washing with cold and drying on low. Now I wash on hot and dry on medium. If works a lot better. The cold water just doesn't clean as well. The vinegar trick works great also.

Maybe give it a try with some older microfiber and see the results for yourself.

By the way, drying on high has one drawback... it creates more static. While it does no damage the static is a pain to deal with, medium heat reduces this or you can remove the towels just before they're completely dry. In any case, the static dissipates fairly quickly.

"Neglecting this advice can result in the melting of your precious product, and possibly damaging your dryer. The exact amount of heat a microfiber product can withstand varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, so play it safe and expose it to nothing over 100 degrees Fahrenheit."

Well that statement is simply false, that's all there is to it. As a matter of fact, nearly all the info on that page is dead wrong. It's not the fault of Superio, they're not weavers, someone gave them some wrong info. I see they sell polyester microfibers, so... polyester melts at 500 degrees, that's easily 365 degrees more than the hottest the dryer will reach. If the dryer reached a high enough temp to melt or damage the fabric it would probably also burn down the house! If you reached in to remove your clothes you'd suffer 3rd degree burns!

Believe me, I used to think the same thing until one day it hit me... this didn't make any sense. When I checked the specs on dryers and ran a few tests it was obvious, no damage can occur to the fibers (polyester, nylon, or cotton) whether they be microfiber or thicker. Sure it may dull the dyes but that doesn't matter in a detailing towel anyway.
