  • Dealer Locator on Meg's Website??

I was just on Meg's website and was trying to use the dealer locator and half the places I called from the list were either out of buisness, didn't carry Meguiars anymore, were wrong cities listed for the store name, did not have right area codes for phone numbers. Those lists must be very outdated lists maybe someone can take a look at this...

    thanks,
    Jon

I believe that we discussed this particular issue when I was in Irvine in late April. It is a problem that they are aware of and I think that there is an effort underway to correct or remedy the problem.

Someone that is closer to the Meguiar's organization may be able to better answer this question however.

I spoke to someone in our company that is closer to that area then myself. There is some work being done to the Retail side of our Dealer Locater. Can you give me more detailed information. the zip code you were using and the types of products you were looking for? This will help us in correcting this problem.

Unfortunately, sometimes we do not get the most updated information from stores that carry our products, and we also have not been consistant on updating this locator. If we don't hear back about product changes with stores we assume they are still carrying the same products. With buyouts and mergers it has posed a challenge to all on being updated of store closures and product changes.

Thanks for making us aware of this problem. Any details you can provide us will be helpful.

      Regards,

      Tom

Thanks for the information. you might want to try your local NAPA auto parts store. They are a very good carrier of these products.

I will have this zip code updated.

I have 4 NAPA stores local NAPA stores that I have visited looking for Meguiar's products. I have found them to be very poor when it comes to carrying your line.

Well your experience matches mine. I have never seen much of a selection at NAPA stores. That's why I always seek out PBE stores wherever I live.

                      Mike,

I too end up at the PBE in my area. I'm fortuante, they carry almost everything in Meguiar's Proffesional line. I'm not slamming NAPA, my guess is that they would order most anything I wanted. I usually stop by on a whim, when I need something. Seems like they have a few of the main stays, #40 #26, some of the glass products and that's about it.

Actually the NAPA up the road from work surprised me when I saw a large amount of Meguiar's product sitting on the shelf Professional, Medallion and Deep Crystal series, a whole wall of your stuff up there just above eye level. ME not leaving well enough alone asks where is the NXT generation? He says what is that so I had to go out to the car to show him what he was missing even did a small spot on there delivery truck which is black and showed him what NXT can do. sooooo maybe in the near future I'll see NXT, clay bar, microfiber on his shelf.

                        Things are look'n better.

I did the serch for my area (07821)and the PUSHER wanted to sell me 3M. sayed he could order me Meguiar's but it will take him 2 weeks......Thanks but NO Thanks. thats when I found this place here. Now you can't get rid of me now....lol

I feel very lucky. I have found several pro paint stores in the area that carry a good selection of Meguiar's pro line. One of the stores has a whole aisle, 4 shelves high, full of Mequiar's pro (and some consumer) products including the Detailer and Body Shop line in 1 gal containers. In addition, they have a full selection of pads and backing plates on an end-cap. Very cool!!!

Also, a "regional" (three or four state) "retail" auto parts store here carries a large selection of the Meguiar's consumer products and several of the staple pro products!

Beercan31, I had one of the pro painter stores try to push the 3M stuff as well. Said the same thing. He could get me Meguiar's, but 3M had the market cornered. B.S.! I see more Meguiar's being carried in this area than 3M. The funny thing was that he had no 3M products out front. Claims he has such a large inventory that he keeps it all in the back. Yet the only detailing products he had out front in his store area was Meguiar's along with a bunch of Meguiar's marketing displays/material. Go figure!

Mike, you mean to tell us you buy your Meguiar's products from a local store? LOL!

Oh, and to add to the web dealer list, I did find that one of the dealers listed was "missing in action". Not sure if they were out of business or moved, but they weren't at the address/phone listed on the site. Most everyone else was current/correct.
A great finish begins with the right start!

Does Meguiars have sales people out in the field calling on current suppliers of Megs and trying to introduce Meguiars to new stores? If so, couldn't Megs find out from these people who carriers the Megs line and update the dealer locator? The consumer line is pretty easy to find since there are all kinds of retailers carrying it. I have found that the professional line is extremely hard to find in my area. One PBE store the locator had listed had a few Meguiars bottles (no more than 5) on one shelf and wanted big $$$ for them. Come to think of it, could Megs look through their distribution center and see who they are shipping large quantities to? I know that could be time consuming.

I have found the best place to order Megs products is right here online. However, there has been a time or two when I really could have used this information to get something I needed that day or the next day. I guess you can call it Emergencies.
