No personal experience with X-Kote but I spoke with them at SEMA. The demo panels I saw at SEMA looked okay - could probably be improved with some typical paint correction work.

At this point, they are selling franchises for Application facilities with franchise fees starting at around $50K.

I thought it might be a good thing to add after you have polished away your clear coat down after owning the same care for 10 years

I was a bit confused that they dont even clay before they apply this product so they would just seal any contaminates that are already on the car.

But Still I thought it might work after I have polished and cleaned the paint to give me that little bit more leeway

On the subject of X-Cote, Restorfx, Shine On, Opti-Coat, etc. offering a hand applied clear coat, I would like to add my two cents as a manufacturer of coatings for the last 32 years. I have a basis, which we should get out of the way up front. I manufacture primarily clear coats. That said, I offer the following general comments.

Any manufacturer or "sales agent" of any product; but, specifically hand applied clear coats has no legitimate reason for not selling you a sample of their product. NONE.

Nor, do they have any legitimate reason to not provide you with a MSDS product sheet. They do not HAVE to give you one if you are the end consumer of the product AND they apply the product themselves.

The excuse that their product is "Proprietary" and someone might "copy" it if they sold it to them is bogus. People have bought samples of my products for the past 30 years and tried to copy them WITHOUT success. If you are what you say you are...let a guy try to duplicate it...knock yourself out!

And, then when you put out the proposition that only your product doesn't need sanding, scuffing, some kind surface preparation because only you have the "magic" that nobody else has, not DuPont, not Sherwin-Williams, not PPG or ANYBODY else, well I got to say...C'mon man. The claim that only you have a product that doesn't need Mechanical Adhesion because it has Chemical adhesion is simply beyond the pale. EVERY product has chemical adhesion derived from the resins, solvents (oil or water based) and surfactants they use in their formulations; BUT, EVERY product needs mechanical adhesion (however derived) as well to insure proper adhesion.

Then this fable about putting down a tenth of a mil or even less ( one manufacturer talks about only 2 microns thickness) of a hand applied product. Our product goes down at 1/2-2/3 a mil dry film thickness and if you took a mil gauge to the film I'm willing to bet a hundred dollars to a donut hole you'll find that their's do too.

Let's keep it real people. Promote your product for its REAL benefits not try to make it cure cancer or even the common cold. This is a tremendous business, big enough for 100 competitors and doesn't need to be Hyped to death to make it viable.

Experience & accumulated knowledge involved, this is just My opinion :-)

I had this **** applied to my 2007 ram...What a disaster.

Had it done then redone 4 times as they tried to redeem them selves. looks ok from far but as you get closer to the body you can see "lines" in the finish, Almost like a brush stroke. A-hole doesn't back up the product nor do they guarantee it and once on.. it costs a small fortune to have it removed and then refinished at a body shop. STAY AWAY!!!
