Please keep in mind that this video, and the others in the series, are not designed to be definitive how to guides but rather, as the name implies, Quik Tips that address the most common questions and mistakes associated with each topic.
Polishing and waxing your car by hand has been described as therapeutic by some and time consuming and tiring by others. No matter where you fall, there are tools available to help polishing and waxing deliver better results, faster and easier. In some cases, these tools, like a rotary polisher, are designed for and should be left to a professional. While other tools, like the Meguiar's Dual Action Polisher, are designed for an enthusiast. Even though our Dual Action Polisher is safe and easy to use, it can still be perceived as intimidating and costly to a novice.
As a result, we designed the Meguiar's DA Power System for anyone who may be intimidated by other tools and machines but is ready to jump from hand application to the next level of car care. Weather you're left handed or right handed, the Meguiar's DA Power System is designed to fit into any drill and can be used to easily remove swirls or simply spread wax with ease.
Before working on your car with the Meguiar's DA Power System, begin by washing and drying your car thoroughly and if needed, clay your car using our Smooth Surface Clay Kit.
For removing defects like heavy swirls, oxidation, stains or scratches, we recommend using our burgundy foam cutting pad and Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. Simply attach the DA Power System to any drill, then attach the Meguiar's foam cutting pad. Apply the product directly to the pad and place the pad flat on the paint. Turn on the drill and begin buffing with moderate pressure in an overlapping pattern while keeping the pad flat against the paint at all times. Work a small section at a time, applying additional product as needed until all defects have been removed. Before moving on to the next section, use our Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel to wipe away any product residue before it dries.
For removing light swirls, or as a follow up to Ultimate Compound, we recommend using our yellow foam polishing pad and Meguiar's Ultimate Polish. Simply attach the polishing pad to the DA Power System tool, then apply the product directly to the pad and place the pad flat on the paint. Turn on the drill and begin buffing with light to moderate pressure in an overlapping pattern while keeping the pad flat against the paint at all times. Work a small section at a time, applying additional product as needed until all defects have been removed. Before moving on to the next section, use our Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel to wipe away any product residue before it dries.
For applying wax, we recommend using our black foam finishing pad and your favorite Meguiar's wax. Simply attach the pad to the DA Power System tool, then apply the product directly to the pad and place the pad flat on the paint.
Turn on the drill and begin buffing with light pressure in an overlapping pattern while keeping the pad flat against the paint at all times. Re-apply the wax to the pad as often as needed until the entire vehicle has a thin, even coat of wax on it. When the wax is dry, use a separate, clean Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel for easy removal.
Wash and dry your foam pads as needed and store them for the next use.
This is the condition of the finish before we started.....
...and this is what we were able to achieve quickly and easily with the DA Power System.
