Re: Recommended Products - G100a Dual Action Polisher

Many thanks Murr1525. Will bear in mind.

Just can figure out why it is recomended that on the G110, that the 'Finishing Pad' be used with NXT Tech Wax instead of the 'Polishing Pad'.

Anyone have any idea why ?

    Cheers

          There are two black pads.

One is the Softbuff 2.0 Finishing Pad, which is the new version of the tan 9006 pad in this article.

The other is a diamond cut pad for use with the Solo System.

A finishing pad is more gentle to the paint than a polishing pad and in most cases when a person is buffing out their car by machine they're using the polishing pads with their swirl and scratch removers so by the time they're done with the cleaning step the paint is clean, clear and smooth and ready for a finishing wax and at this point there's no need for a polishing pad when a finishing pad is available.

Polishing paint is an art form, not merely a mechanical grinding process so people work from the most aggressive product to the least aggressive products when creating a work of art.

            Make sense?

Now if you wanted to get some cleaning power while applying NXT Tech Wax you could use the polishing pad because the foam itself can act as an abrasive and provide cleaning power even though it's really on the gentle side of cleaning power as compared to more aggressive cutting pads. How aggressive or gentle a product is is all all kind of relative to what it's being compared to.

Like Matt said, there's a black finishing pad with a flat face and a black finishing pad with a diamond crisscross pattern cut into it. Here's some info on the pads with the diamond crisscross pattern cut into it.

The diamond pads have a crisscross or diamond cut pattern to the face of the pads and all the rest of our foam pads have a flat pad design. The diamond cut pattern is specific to the Solo compound as this product uses our super micro abrasive technology so there's no concern whether the abrasives build up in the grooves.

If you were to use this pad design with a diminishing abrasive there is the issue of some of the abrasives building up in the grooves and thus not being fully worked against the paint which is the goal and thus the reason to use a flat pad design with a diminishing abrasives.

Here's a link to a thread bout the Solo Pads...
