  • Swirl Removal on White Crown Vic

Hey guys, just would like to know if my plan sounds good. I have a regular white 2011 Crown Vic, the paint is in good shape and the car shines, but it has swirls everywhere. (ex-rental) You really only see them in direct light so I don't think they are that bad.

Since I'm going to do the whole car by hand I'm planning on using SwirlX with some Ultimate Compound for the sections that seem worse than the rest. Can I go straight from the SwirlX/some UC to wax? I figured since it's regular white and SwirlX is a cleaner/polish the Ultimate polish is not too necessary.

Also, I know it's not ideal but are these two products safe to apply in sunlight?

Thanks for the help with the newbie questions.

Just go with the UC. If you like your results after then you can wax however it is recommend to follow up UC with UP.

Are you going to clay the car?

I probably will just wash first. The finish is very smooth when clean. I wasn't sure if Utimate compound on the whole car would be too aggressive? I've used it to take off a couple of small scuffs and it worked great. Maybe I'll buy some Ultimate Polish as back-up and start with the Ultimate Compound.

Clay is your friend. Doesn't take long, isn't hard to do, but the results at the end will be worth it.

As to working by hand...don't try and do the whole car in one session. Not saying it can't be done, but your body will thank you.

        Good luck...

One more question. When applying the cleaner/polish (SwirlX or Ultimate Compound), is it better to use a foam applicator or microfiber? I've read that the microfiber may be a tad more aggressive than foam. I already have a few microfiber pads with a holder so you can get more even pressure, do you think it's worth it to go buy foam pads instead? I usually use microfiber for all products except wax.

I like foam myself....but it is a bit up to you.

The difference wont be as big as would be on a machine.
