  • New paint job!

I just got back my car with a new paint job, in black.

I was hoping you experts on here could offer a newbie advice on how to:

    1) Clean it, ex. (2 bucket method, with what would be a best chosen meguairs wash).
    2) How to keep the paint clean and shiny, ex. (what clay to use, and and other polish/wax products?)
    3) Best overall method of hand work using the above.

Did you ask the body shop how long to wait for the new paint to gas out before any waxing? I believed you still could wash, clay, and polish, just need to wait a bit for waxing. Hope this help.

They said 30 days... They used Shopline PPG 2 stage on a 4:1 mix ratio... also laid 3 coats of clear.

I had it delivered on October 8th so I am well past.

Well, you can do all the regular detailing steps then.

If everything looks good, and you dont want to make it too complicated, you can look at:

          1. Wash: Gold Class Soap, 2 buckets, Grit Guards, good quality towels, mitts, etc
          2. Clay - smooth Surface Clay kit
          3. Cleaner/Wax or ColorX (or the Black Wax when it is available)
          4. Wax - Ult. Wax, Gold Class+, or other favorite regular wax.
