Help: Pecan Stains Under Clear Coat

hey everyone,

so i had parked under a pecan tree and noticed a few brown stains on my bumper and hood from pecans falling onto the car (damn squirrels). the stains have faded a lot on the hood. however, the bumper seems to hold on to the stains a lot better and haven't changed in appearance since getting them about 2-3 weeks ago. i'm guessing it has something to do with it being plastic vs metal. anyways, i consulted the dealership about the stains, but they informed me that the stains have settled under the clear coat. is there anything i can do about this? or am i just SOL? would i be able to approach this with rubbing compound or something?

any help is appreciated. i'll try and post photos of the stains tomorrow for you guys to see.

Well a through approach would be this:
1. wash
2. clay
3. Ultimate compound (do a test spot first and see if you are achieving what you want)
4. Ultimate polish
5. Wax of choice

You can do that for you entire car or just spots but you may see the results are great and choose to do the car.

3. Ultimate compound (do a test spot first and see if you are achieving what you want)
4. Ultimate polish
5. Wax of choice

is ultimate compound similar to rubbing compound?

and is this the only approach to tackle the situation? thanks for the help btw!

Well you will yield better results IMO with the Ultimate compound. You could try something less aggressive like scratch X 2.0 and see what that does but I think you will be better off with the Ultimate Compound.

well thanks for the advice. i went out and bought the ultimate compound and polish. i'll be giving this a try tomorrow so wish me luck!

i did it and i'm not sure how effective it was. i've been staring at it for so long so i'm not sure if it's lightened it or not. maybe some fresh eyes will help when i look at it tomorrow.

i do have some additional questions though. how many times do you recommend going over the spot with the ultimate compound before moving on to the polish? also, how much pressure do you apply when using a meguiars foam pad? during my first round i used very very mild pressure while guiding the pad tip covered with compound with my index finger. then the next few rounds i just said, what the hell, and kind of forced my index finger into it and really got in there. should i refrain from doing that i the future? my instincts say yes lol.

Ultimate Compound works wonders on small scratches and its really easy to use, kinda just like waxing.... only more difficult to take off :P
