  • Foam Applicator pad

    Hello Guys!

If I understood correctly, using different pads with the same product can produce different levels of correction.

Now, regarding to the foam applicator pads ( w0004 ) how hard/soft is its aggressiveness level if compared to:

    (a) softbuff polishing pad
    (b) softbuff finishing pad
    (c) microfiber bonnet

Let's consider only the material they are made, once (a) and (b) are originally intended for use with machine.

My apologies if the question was already answered in another thread.

    Thanks !

    Re: Foam Applicator pad

The yellow hand foam pads offer almost no cut of their own. That is why they are the favorite of many (and myself) for applying everything from paint cleaners to waxes.

    (a) is more aggressive than (b) and can be used for defect correction. (b) is usually used for applying waxes, pure polishes, and finishing polishes.

A microfiber bonnet should not be used for defect correction when used with a DA. It should be used for wax removal and should be put over a W7*** cutting pad.

The new DA Microfiber System would be much more aggressive than (a) or (b)

      Shawn T.

      Thank you for clarifying.

Good to know the foam applicator pad offers almost no cut.

Now, searching Internet I found the S6HP, a hand pad. Do you know how is the attachment system of this hand pad? It would be the same as Meguiars backing plates ( velcro )?

Yes, that hand pad is for the buffing pads typically used with the DA or rotary which means they use the velcro system utilized in the pads. You're more likely to see someone use the 4" W*204 buffing pads and the S3HP hand pad than the larger 6" pads I would think which are more comperable to the W0004. Both the hand pads can also be used with the unigrit sanding discs.

I decided to order one S3HP and some 4" polishing pads. Thanks for the tip!

Glad I could help! When working by hand they're very nice as it helps to apply even pressure over the pad and gives you a nice hand hold.

For hand application of paint cleaners this is a fantastic combination. You should pick up a couple of the 4" finishing pads as well for applying pure polish and/or wax too.

                Hello,

Here are my softbuffs and the S3HP. Since I am in vacation, there's a lot of fun from now on.

I bought from Proper Auto Care and I am from Brazil. These stuff is NOT available in my country. I received these 31 days after the shipment date. You can trust me this is the average time delivery for Brazil.

Now, here is the tip for brazilian friends who knows it is not easy to find Meguiars products on our country. Proper Auto care ships WW has average prices and gives you 10% off on every purchase.

                Regards!

Hi. I don't have a DA and have to apply all my products by hand applicator. What is the best hand applicator to use with SwirlX and ScratchX to get the best results?

                  Thanks,
                  Bill
