The new MF System Pads are also an option, and have shown good results when people use them on hard paint.

Or moving on to a rotary step. Of course some skill needed for that.

And then there are some things that cant be removed.
Well I will take ur advice. Thank u

Best to use the polishing pad first. If you have to experiment, you would want to do a small test spot first.
So..let's say I used UC with a polishing pad...with the DA and used a lot of pressure in a small area multiple times and the defects are still there...would the cutting pad with moderate pressure be my next step?

I have used UC by hand on a 2008 Acadia that had some light oxidization and swirls. The guys here at Meguiars gave me some good advice. Do a small area first, and I mean small...maybe one square foot, and go over it 3 or 4 times. I only went over it twice and I saw some dramatic results. To really see a difference follow it up with some pure polish. I used the step 2 deep crystal stsyem polish and it worked wonders.

I tend to like the hi-tec ones, but you could try the Even Coat and see if it helps you at all.

Really wouldnt want terry cloth applicator.

Generally speaking you would want to start with SwirlX, which is milder, and then Ultimate Compound if needed.

As far as the terminology... it can very by company, so hard to say an exact name for things.

I think that you need stronger pressure and then use ultimate polish to high gloss finish.

Hi Mates. New here. Im trying my luck with this old(er) thread.

I recently noticed the roof has wierd marks recently.
So I decided to get rid of it by using UC (applied using even coat applicator). However, whilst it brought back the paint's clarity, but the marks are still there. I've adjusted the contrast slightly so that it's easier to see the defects.

Is this a sign of clear coat failure? Either that or my clear coat is as hard as diamonds.

A background on my car and method.
    Paint : 10 year old 2k Paint
Method : Washed, clayed, UC'd, Glazed, Waxed.

Zach, if you plan to buy an orbital buffer don't waste your money. Those machines are not good for paint correcting jobs (they are also called wax spreaders).

You really need a proper dual action polisher with variable speeds like Meguiar's G110, Porter Cable 7424 or Griot's Garage. You can't go wrong with any of these.

I know that with backing plate, pads and towels all together may become expensive but it's gonna make your work much easier and more enjoyable.

    Here's a few pictures:

Before UC and clay (Notice the random leaf lol):

Looks like paint overspray. No idea how that got there:

    After UC and clay:

You can't really see it, but there is alot of oxidation and swirls.

After about 3 applications by hand with a terry towel using lots of "passion". only some oxidation appears to be removed. I think I might just go ahead and buy a DA I found on Amazon from B&D for $30 :/
