  • Drying car.

Whats best way to dry your car after washing? I use a Chamois leather cloth but i just read that those might but swirl marks in the paint. I'm thinking of using a micro fibre towel but i'm not sure how well that would work. Any ideas?

the main thing is don't use anymore added pressure than required. I use the shamwow.. i jsut make sure i do not press hard and use the weight of the cloth to dry..... 100% egyptian terry towels are always safe.. and i have used the "water blade" in the past with great results... real chamois from what i heard is one of the best you can use.. you just have to know how to use it properly.. the real goatskin stuff needs to be damp before you use it.. you cannot simply start drying straight out of the package

I use a "absorber, then 2 water magnets. One for the paint, the other for the glass.

I just use all Water Magnets.

But some will use a Water Blade, some will use a leaf blower....

I use the Absorber (a synthetic chamois) but I only blot; I do not rub it around. I then follow-up with a waffle-weave microfiber towel.

I do a flooding rinse which sheets almost all water off of the vehicle. Flooding rinse is accomplished by removing nozzle form hose and using a large stream of water to sheet water off of finish. Hop on You Tube and enter 'pooling rinse" and watch it in action. This is how I dry my vehicle and I end up using ONE WW MF towel. I spritz detail spray on the vehicle and dry with a waffle weave MF towel. Any remaining hidden water around mirrors, lights. etc. is removed by use of the blowing action on my Metro Vac N Blo 500 and a MF towel.

I am also using the ' flooding' method to start the drying process. I then use micro-fibre towels + a leaf blower to discharge water from cracks and crevices.

I just use microfibers. (Not the big towels, just regular size cloths)

                  Re: Drying car.

I started with real chamois....left streaks, had to be wrung out often. Terry towels left streaks, got heavy and had to be wrung out. Water Blade is pretty good. The Absorber is good but still needs wringing out and can take several wipes to get the streaks. The absolute best I have found is the waffle-weave microfiber drying towels. I flood the finish then dry with this towel. No wringing! and can dry the entire car with 1 towel!

With proper technique I use a Water Blade First, from nose to rear.

Then wipe down with a combo of Water Magnets and MF towels. Never an issue.

I've tried to use the water blade, but am not too satisfied with its results. Since I essentially wash panel by panel, I just a big waffle weave. Anything left I just dry off with a regular MF.

I flood the car with water to get most of the water sheeting off. I then spray the entire car with detail spray and dry with a Griot's Garage microfiber towel.

i don't think you can get real goatskin towels anymore, well, maybe for some expensive glasses but not large drying towels for cars. I used several kinds of those real leather towels before (made of sheepskin i belive), those r quite soft and with good water absorbing, but needs extra care because if u let it dry with chemicals in , it'll be ruined and end up like a piece of hard cardboard. LOL.

Now i'm using 3 large thick microfiber towels to absorb the water, then i use a blowing nozzle to rid water hiding in gaps.
