    Re: UC question

    Axall,

    Welcome to Meguiar's!

Well, you've gone ahead and done it now, you're addicted!! It just shows with a little effort and a few pointers how you can correct a mess turning it into sometime that glistens!

Great job on that car...especially if you consider yourself a "novice". Did you just end up using Ultimate Compound to achieve that?

Can you please post the picture of your rotary and the pad? I take it this is the first time you have used rotary. If so, many of the contributors in this forum are going to be aghast!!!

Hi, I used the UC and then Maguires polish and then the NXT2 wax.

Hi, yes it was the first time for using a rotary. I have since brought the polisher back to my buddy but I think it was called a viper multispeed and I used a yellow foam pad.

                        Re: UC question

Was that polisher losing speed when you applied pressure to the pad?

Anyway, it is just remarkable what you were able to do with the cheap rotary buffer as a novice. I think you are a natural born detailer. Your new name should be "Mozart of Meguiar" :-)

Next time somebody makes snide remarks on cheap rotaries, I will provide this topic as counter example.

Hi, the polisher seemed to hold its speed well when pressure was applied. I would like to correct the name of the polisher, it was a Vaper not a viper. My buddy said he paid $79.00 for it.

I think he meant Vector. That is generic Chinese polisher.

Just a question. I know the effort required by hand to complete the compounding of the whole car will be immense, but will it give the same results?

I am not too worried about the stress and effort, will make necessary time arrangements for that , but my main question is about the finish.

                                Re: UC question

Some paint is very hard to work on, and some so hard to work on even machines have trouble. So in those cases, working by hand may not get you too far.

But if the paint is workable, you can get close.

The only way to know is to try on some test spots.
