  • UC on 2009 Mustang

I have cob webbing on all of my car but it's only noticeable in hard sun light or lighting. It also has about 4-5 light scratches all in te clear coat ciscthere anyone on here who has experience with UC or Scratch X using it in conjuction with their Stang' or on a Ford in general. I just wanted to get your opinion and best way to go about it. I'm using Ian applicator pads by Meguiars. I did a test spot on the hood scoop and it looks great but I think as I went on the hood it got less effective. But I don't know if it was due to not cleaning the pad enough so it got to damp or what? I've done a lot of searching and just can't find my actual answer. It's a new car great paint I take tremendous care of the car I just wasn't too knowledgeable of cob webbing until I found out the hard way. Please guys help me out! I know this stuff will come out. If anyone lives around Houston, Pearland, Galveston etc. and wouldn't mind having our own little get together to kick this things butt we can do that also.

    Thanks to all who respond.

Sorry for the few grammer errors. I'm typing all of this on my iphone. Darn compact technology!!! It wouldn't let me edit my post.

"Cleaning on the fly" isnt quite as big of a problem with hand applicators usually.

How much were you applying, how big of an area were you working? You might have just tried too big of an area with one squirt of product. Usually 1ft squareish or 1.5 ft is the biggest you want to go.

Paint that is on plastic parts contains a flex agent in the paint which may affect the paints hardness. If you are not getting any marring you might want to step up to UC with a terry applicator. I would test an inconspicuous area first before working on the hood to make sure you are getting the results you want. Working by hand may take multiple applications wih some work behind it.

I wasn't working in an area any bigger than 10x10in. I used about the size of a quarter in compound. No marring at all. I took the plunge last night and bought a G110 v2 from ADS with 4 yellow polishing pads and 2 finishing pads. So this should change my outcome huh?

Well, wont do better than no marring/swirls, but should be easier to get there.

I'm in the same boat Mike. I bought a 2008 Mustang GT (Black) in 2008, and found out the hard way how swirls appear out of nowhere. Tried some mild corrections by hand in 2008 (deep crystal paint cleaner and some scratch x the old stuff), with no luck. Probably didn't have the patience. Last year I decided to give up and just live with the swirls. Well - and I had a lot more going on. This year, started over. Did just what you did. Ordered the G110 V2. Got some Ultimate Compound, some SwirlX, and am looking to get some M205. Let's see how we do. I've read a lot and these guys on here are really helpful, so hopefully all should work! Keep us posted, and I'll do the same. BTW - I used to live down there by you. Not real close - but in Victoria. Too dang hot....

Yeah I know where you're talking about Shack. My brother in law has a deer lease down there. And I will keep you posted! Hopefully it will get here by next weekend so I can get to work. If you get yours first shack let me know how it goes ! Any tips or tricks you learn along the way.
