  • M105 dusting a lot

So this was my first time trying out M105 on my car.

It is dusting a lot and almost immediately, is this normal? Am I supposed to stop when it dusts? I kept working it a little more after it started dusting, and there was a ton of swirls after wiping. I'm guessing the swirls was from working the M105 while it dust or wiping it off with the dust.

No, your in the right section, I just think we are all a bit confused on what is actually going on.

First I need a little more information:

      1) What kind of applicator are you using and with how much pressure?
      2) How has the M105 been stored (i.e. in a freezing garage, in the house, etc.)?
      3) How long are you working the product? I know you say "immediately" but a little more specificity is needed.

The swirls are most likley caused by the dusting of the product.

Also, is this the new formulation of M105 (The bottle will say it works with dual-action polishers if it is), or the original formula?

The yellow Meguiars applicator pads. Not too much pressure, not like digging into the paint.

          2) How has the M105 been stored (i.e. in a freezing garage, in the house, etc.)?

Bottle has been in the house.

          Maybe 20-30 seconds?

It could be that you recieved a bad bottle. This is highly unlikely as quality control at Megs is incredible but it is possible.

Where are you using the product (garage, outside in the sun, in the shade, etc.)?

If you are using the product on hot paint then the product could dust very quickly, even in the 20-30 seconds you are working it. This is the same with any product. This is the only factor, besides cleanliness of the applicator, that I can think of right now that could be causing your situation. Even cleanliness of the applicator would not effect dusting though so it is very strange.

How much product are you using, and how large an area are you covering at a time? It's very odd to see M105 dusting badly when worked by hand. You should really confine your work area to no more than about 1' x 1' and use an amount of product roughly equal to the size of a quarter or 50 cent piece on the pad when doing so.

In the garage, car sat over night. Pads were brand new out of package.

I would say 2 x 2. I will try a smaller area and that amount of product too when I get some free time again. thanks
