  • Fixed intense swirls with scratchX 2.0

was a nice afternoon and i decided to wash my car, i lost track of time and i had to pick my girlfriend up. So i decided to take my car to the local bubbles car wash. NEVER EVER EVER take your car to a wash that is not touchless.it

Needless to say, if i didnt love Meq's before this. man do i ever love them now. I dont have any pictures of the gold class i put onto my baby after. So the right panel on each picture have nothing on it. I spent about 6-7 hours on a Sunday fixed that damage to my paint. The swirls were as severe or worse than the ones in the picture all over the car. Now i know NEVER to get my car washed anywhere but my driveway and by me.

Great work and excellent example of how washing methods can be so crucial to maintaining a swirl-free finish.

Thanks, its not perfect but hey.. i would take the right panel over the left one any day. I hope everyone doesnt learn the hard way by me, i know its alot of work to wash your own car, but its so worth it, id rather take an hour to wash my car, then 7 to correct damage from a car wash.

Excuse the dumb question, but what is meant by "touchless?" We have a carwash at work that I can use and it has some kind of moving panels of what look like rubberized material that move back and forth on the car. I've never used it on my new car, but have used it on my daily driver that has so many swirls I wouldn't know if that carwash makes things worse or not.

I've also wondered if using the water/soap gun at my local carwash with the "high pressure" setting (you pull a trigger mechanism to activate it) also causes damage.

ya the carwash at your work isnt touchless. Touchless would be one like at the shell gas station. Basically nothing except the water/soap touches your car, no rubber things that slap it ect. The high pressure hose, such as the one your talking about does cause damage over time i believe, it has something to do with wearing down the clear coat because it has so much pressure. I think i car needs like 15 psi , the one at the car wash has around 200 i think.

Well, the other note is that because the surface/soap/dirt is not agitated at all, the soap needs to be stronger. This makes it more likely to strip wax.

That is a great testimony to the damage a car wash can inflict. Sorry you had to learn the hard way. But your car looks great in the afters. Way to go.

What about after a car wash? Do the swirls come back?
