So I had decided to use Ultimate Compound after playing around with less aggressive products for a year or so. I had SwirlX, ScratchX 2.0, Cleaner Wax which were not suitable for what I wanted to do. I don't hand a polisher, except for Mothers Wax Attack Palm Polisher (sorry), so I need a product that can do the job delivered by hand.
This car is my wife's, and it's a 1996 BMW 318ti Compact with Alaska Blue colour. It was imported second hand from Japan, and we bought it off the first New Zealand's owner. The paint has these strange imperfections, where there are thousands of these tiny white mark all over the horizontal surfaces of the car. I don't know what caused them, but they proved to be quite resistant to the three products I mentioned above. Each mark is about as big as a grain of salt (and it's not salt!).
I originally bought UC to get rid off the scratches on the bonnet, but while working on one scratch I noticed that it actually got rid off these white marks as well. So I decided to do the whole bonnet.
I did put some passion behind the polishing, which resulted in sore fingers now but was required otherwise these marks weren't coming off. Now the pictures:
This is the right side of the bonnet, near the windscreen. I haven't done anything to the original picture except cropping it. The right side of the picture where UC had been applied, the left side was still on its original form.

This second picture shows the same area of the bonnet after application of UC, clayed and sealed with NXT wax. Again the picture hasn't been modified apart from cropped.

The colour looks a bit different because the sun decided to come out on the second picture.
So in short, thank you Meguiars for a great product, now since I've had practice I'll move on tackling scratches on my BMW E60. I'll put more pictures when I get around to doing it. Still need to wash the car first.
