  • Polish to help remove orange peel?

    Hey everyone,

I've resprayed a plastic mirror using spray cans, and have slight orangepeel (think it's in the clearcoat). My plan was to sand it down using 2000 then 3000 grit wet dry sandpaper to smooth it down, but I'm unsure what compound/polish to use to get a good gloss finish. I've heard good things about Ultimate Compound, would this give have too much cut?

I don't have access to any machine polishers, so I'm not sure if some of the meguiar's pro line will be that suitable.

    Thanks

If you're going to be doing this by hand you'll probably want to take advantage of the cut provided by M105 Ultra Cut Compound. It's debatable whether you'd be able to fully pull the sanding marks by hand with just Ultimate Compound.

Ok thanks! Can M105 still be used effectively by hand then? From what I've seen it is more effective to use my DA?

M105 works great whether by hand, D/A or rotary but of course the time to cut is greatest by hand. For removing sanding marks by hand you'll usually get faster and better results with M105.

Thats great, I'll pick some up then

To finish it off to an LSP stage, can #205 be used by hand effectively? Or should something like swirlx be used instead?
