  • Meguiar's Foam Pads: Meguiar's Side Up or Down?

When using foam pads of any brand, I have always prefered applying liquid to the side without the lettering on it.

It has occured to me that having the lettering face down may provide slightly better cut and liquid absorption.

    What do you guys think?

I always use the side without the lettering for removing defects. There is more surface area in contact with your paint, which can increase the cut.

If you are applying a protectant, it really doesn't matter which side you use.

The proper method is to have the letters facing up and having the completely flat portion making contact with the paint surface.

it actually could be a bit better cutting due to the edge, but I don't think enough to worry about. I would go to terry if you wanted more cutting.

I always use the Logo side up. Never really gave it any thought until this post. It just seemed right to me.

I use logo side up when using cleaning products, logo side down when applying glazes/pure polishes. I find that having the lettering down helps the pad glide more easily over the paint, kinda like the dimples on CCS pads I think.
