How do you remove a scratch from a freshly waxed car?

This is a new car. I brought it home on the weekend. I washed it with gold class car wash and then waxed it with gold class liquid wax. Two days later I noticed a scratch. What is the recommended procedure to remove the scratch? I am new to all this, so the clearer the instructions the better.

A scratch can mean a multitude of things.Even if you can describe it,would be of some benefit.

a foam applicator and ScratchX 2.0 would be a start.

You should always start with a clean surface.You can see better aswell.

ScratchX 2.0 will remove the wax.

I have a similar predicament. I recently did a test section of my hood with SwirlX one morning after washing and didn't have enough time to work it as well as I wanted, so I just covered it with some TW 2.0 since I didn't know when I'd be able to get back to it.

Is there anything different I should do before I trying another run of SwirlX over the same spot which in order to remove the wax, or will the SwirlX adequately do that? Thanks.

In order to remove the scratch would I be able to use a touch-up paint pen from my dealer? So I would:
Wash
Clay
touch-up paint pen over scratch
wax

Is it not better to fill in the scratch with new paint then removing more paint with scratchX to make the scratch disappear? Am I missing something?

It's a LOT harder than you think to remove the touch-up paint with ScratchX or any other compound.

That option is only good if you're going to wet-sand.

I do not believe the scratch is down to the metal. Would that make a difference? Over the long life of the car isn't it preferable to touch up scratches with a paint stick instead of taking off more paint? I mean isn't there only so much paint you can take off with scratchX or any abrasive product until you get down to the metal yourself? I am just trying to understand the logic.

I agree with you entirely. And it makes sense to me too.

The problem is that the scratches are usually so thin and light that it's not worth touching up because then the touch up paint is even MORE obvious than the scratch itself and is harder to remove.

If it is not to deep. Use the scratch-x. Just make sure the surface is clean before you start. The scratch-x will remove the wax. I would try this. I would not try to touch up with paint. The paint on your car probably has a clar coat on it. the touch up won't. The amount of paint you are removing will not be that great. You will be okay if the scratch is not deep. You stated that the scratch is not down to the metal.
