  • Don't wash please?

so i figured this would be the best place to post this, feel free to move it if needed. I went to visit the guy who is having me detail his bike last night just so I could let him know what was up and ask a few questions. However, apparently the previous owner and himself never drive it in the rain, understandable, its a custom harley with a great paint job, some custom chrome pieces, and a 2" drop, very nice. So because it has never come into contact with water, they also never wash it using soap and water! Now, albeit, it is clean, theres only a light layer of dust and the paint looks to be in fairly good condition. I asked him if he cared if i used soap and water, and he said he's prefer I didn't, so of course I won't go agaist his wishes.
Now my question, I tried to look up some waterless car washes and discovered, if i'm correct, that last touch spray detailer is basically the same thing as waterless carwash. So with that and a lot of rags and some brushes, could I get the job done.
Also, I use my LTSD diluted 1:1 for clay lube and wipe downs, should I use it that way, or at full strength, the reason I ask is, his reason for no rain, no water, is to keep as few chances for rust away as possible. Sorry thats so long, but I've never actually has someone request that of me . Thanks guys.

    Peace

I wouldn't dilute it, as you would reduce the "slipperiness" of the QD.

From my understanding, LT in North America isn't *quite* the same formula as what's sold in Australia (although there could have been changes since last I checked) so it isn't quite a waterless wash, but is the closest thing currently available in North America.

We offer a type of waterless wash in Australia because they have water restrictions in that country due to drought issues. Our position however is that the best way to remove abrasive dirt and contaminants without instilling swirls and scratches is to wash and rinse with free flowing water.
That said, using LT may be your best bet. If you do this, my suggestions are to use many plush towels. The LT may work well enough, but no matter what product you use, if you are wiping with a dirty towel, you are going to get scratches. Go a few inches and rotate to a fresh/clean section. Don't use much pressure. Don't worry about a film. You can go over it a second time after the dirt is gone. Don't skimp on the fluid. Spray evenly and enough to cover the surface so you aren't rubbing anywhere dry.

    Hope this helps.

I would also go the Last Touch route. I would also use it full strength. It should do the job for you and keep the customer happy.
