      8"X8" seems to work pretty well. It's tough to make a perfect square when you are working by hand but that should at least give you a starting point.

          I did a 12 X 12 area at a time using circular motions with a MF applicator for most surfaces, but did go back and forth over deeper scratches and it worked well.
