Re: Best polish by hand
Don't forget about #81 hand polish which is another great product up there with #7""Some of us will do our jobs well and some will not, but we will be judged by only one thing - the result." - Vince Lombardi

Re: Best polish by hand
You can use an orbital but it will be hard to remove defects as an orbital lacks power. If you are looking to get more severe defects out you may need to hit them by hand first with a terry cloth and ScratchX. If you use a orbital with a wool bonnet you may be able to remove light swirl marks and scratches depending on how hard the paint is but you will have to work it hard. So i would recommend hitting the hard areas by hand then follow up on the complete vehicle with the orbital but remember when working by hand with ScratchX you will need to put some passion behind the pad and also when using the orbital make sure to use a little pressure, at least 20lbs. Remember to remove a scratch/ swirl means to remove the paint ( clear coat ) around the scratch leveling the paint to the bottom of the scratch""Some of us will do our jobs well and some will not, but we will be judged by only one thing - the result." - Vince Lombardi

Re: Best polish by hand
My opinion...
BEST hand-applied swirl removers?
1st place: M105 Ultra-Cut Compound
M105 is recommended as OKAY for hand application.
2nd place: M86 So1o Cut & Polish Cream
M86 is NOT listed as okay for hand application.
BEST polish by hand:
M81 Hand Polish-
• For basecoat/clearcoat, newer technology single-stage paints.
• For pretty dialed-in paint, meaning, only mildly oxidized.
M07 Show Car Glaze-
• For older single-stage paints and/or heavily oxidized paints.
In a side by side comparison of these two polishes, on a metallic paint:
M80 Hand Polish will compliment the 'flakes'... M07 will simulate darkening/wetting of the paint color.Kevin Brown

Originally posted by car fanatic View Posthow easy is M105 to use, and is it easy to damage the paint with it,
the reason i ask is because i dont realy know anything about it.
If you're working with a rotary buffer then the product itself is easy to use but the rotary buffer is a handful when you're first starting out.
