  • Best polish by hand

As the title states what polish do you guys suggest i use before applying nxt 2.0. I am thinking about #7, and of course it will be by hand. Thanks

#7 is top of the line.

DC#2 is a bit easier to use.

You want to apply very thin coats if you use #7.

Don't forget about #81 hand polish which is another great product up there with #7

Thanks for the quick reply, also can you apply scratchx with an orbital. I really want to get a g110 but have to save up, so all i have right now is my hands and an orbital lol.

You can use an orbital but it will be hard to remove defects as an orbital lacks power. If you are looking to get more severe defects out you may need to hit them by hand first with a terry cloth and ScratchX. If you use a orbital with a wool bonnet you may be able to remove light swirl marks and scratches depending on how hard the paint is but you will have to work it hard. So i would recommend hitting the hard areas by hand then follow up on the complete vehicle with the orbital but remember when working by hand with ScratchX you will need to put some passion behind the pad and also when using the orbital make sure to use a little pressure, at least 20lbs. Remember to remove a scratch/ swirl means to remove the paint ( clear coat ) around the scratch leveling the paint to the bottom of the scratch

It will be alot of work by hand and sometimes take multiple applications to remove deffects so you might just want to set up a test area and give it a few passes with the orbital just to see how affective it is on your paint. It would definitely save alot of time if it can remove the swirls with the orbital but it doesn't hurt to try unless you just prefer to do it all by hand.

                My opinion...

                BEST hand-applied swirl removers?
                1st place: M105 Ultra-Cut Compound
M105 is recommended as OKAY for hand application.

                2nd place: M86 So1o Cut & Polish Cream
M86 is NOT listed as okay for hand application.

                BEST polish by hand:
                M81 Hand Polish-
                • For basecoat/clearcoat, newer technology single-stage paints.
                • For pretty dialed-in paint, meaning, only mildly oxidized.

                M07 Show Car Glaze-
                • For older single-stage paints and/or heavily oxidized paints.

In a side by side comparison of these two polishes, on a metallic paint:
M80 Hand Polish will compliment the 'flakes'... M07 will simulate darkening/wetting of the paint color.

Working by hand it's pretty easy, apply, work in to a small are and wipe off. Better swirl removing results faster than using ScratchX. After you use M105 you still may need to do a second polishing step to remove any haze left by the use of M105 and then you can go to wax.

If you're working with a rotary buffer then the product itself is easy to use but the rotary buffer is a handful when you're first starting out.

I'm hearing a lot of success from #105 by hand.

I could not imagine doing a WHOLE car by hand!

Alot of people say that but i dont have a problem with it right now classes just ended waiting for my internship to start so i have a little time on my hands during the day , but i do plan on buy a DA polisher. Also after using M105 Mike stated that i should use a polish to get rid of the hazing, one coat of #7 would be ok right.
