He had a 2002 Cadillac DeVille with the factory finish. However, this car had a ton of accessories including hand painted striping put on top of the factory finish.
Use thin line masking tape to cover these stripes. This saves them from being polished off (his were starting to get thin already) and lets you be aggressive in areas adjacent to the tape.
PBE stores sell it for paint masking and tape lines, so it's readily available.
