  • Engine bay-hoses

Hi all, there's a neat way to customize your engine bay hoses if you can't get silicon hoses or find it's too pricey.

I tried over the years to get colored samco silicon hoses to enhance the appearence of my bay,but they didn't do it for my model.

Anyway, there is a spray which is available for this purpose and comes in many colors.I'll back it up with a pic of the can later. It's called 'Tube-it'.It is heat proof and crack proof, and can be cleaned with a lot of detailing products.(no problems if you're using degreasers).

Obviously this involves removing the hoses and cleaning them well,so if your not sure, find someone to do the removal for you.

I sprayed them 7 or 8 years ago(Blue) and after i clean them, they still look brand new.It sprays directly onto clean rubber.I found this was the answer for me and saved me alot of $$'s.

I hope you guys pay just as much attention to engine detailing as your bodywork!

That's pretty neat! Nice find, still looks good for being 7 years old!

Hi Roush,I should have posted these threads in 'Engine Detailing',but I didn't notice it untill last night 'DOH!'.

Firstly,I've checked the back of the tin. It's made in germany, from what I can see.

Anyway, considering the cost of a tin of spray,I really love this stuff. What I did find though,if you pass twice, you get abetter gloss/shine as on the photo on the tin. Also,I think the red and yellow pops out more as a color. It's the same with brake caliper paint,R & Y are much brighter, whereas blue tends to be a little duller.

That's good stuff aswell.I had to change ALL my calipers after 10 yrs. The salt on the roads in Scotland killed them.I tried changing the pistons, but this was only a temporary solution.
I had painted the old cal.'s years ago,but removing the rust was a nightmare. What i did do was paint the new ones before mounting and that makes a big difference to the end result.

          I can't afford Brembo's!!!!!
