  • Trick to get product's from big bottle to small applicator

I just picked up a couple gallon and 1/2 gallon containers of 105, 205, 21, 3 and etc. I was trying to figure out an easier way to get product from the big bottles to the little bottles without using the drip drip method which seems to make a huge mess, and is excruciatingly slow. So this is what I came up with. I took a small funnel and a cap from one of my small applicator bottles. I cut the very tip of the bottle off and then split the tip down the sides in four places. Basically if you are looking down on the tip it would be the shape of an X. I then slid the funnel tip in through the top of the applicator lid, and super glued it into place. You want to make it an airtight as possible seal. Then ran some zip ties around it and cinched them down. Lastly I took the funnel and screwed it onto the edge of my work bench.

Now I can thread the bottle onto the bottom of the funnel. Pour you product into the funnel until it’s almost to the top. Grab the bottle and then squeeze slowly and push the air out of the bottle. Do it slow so that a bubble will form at the top and then pop. Do it to fast and you will send your product flying. When you release your squeeze on the bottle it then ***** the product right into you applicator bottle. With mine if I fill the funnel 3 times it will fill the bottle completely. Then you can leave the bottle attached while gravity pulls the remaining product in from the sides of the funnel. Works pretty slick and you loose little product.

I know it’s not exactly earth shattering tech, but I thought I would share.

    Here’s some pics.

I am confused why you just don't use the funnel as is, when the product fills the funnel just poke through with a length of wire.

Nice garage! Wow, I've got some work to do. I like how you have a description of the product on your bottle. Here's what I came up with to help me learn and remember what the bottle contains and its uses.

My code is: Meguiar's product number on top (D151) so I can see what's what when it's in a tray with other bottles (give credit to Nick Chapman on that one!), the aggressiveness rating at the bottom (4), followed by a dash and the number 1 (-1) if it could be used as a one step (cleaner, polish, wax) and a letter to indicate if it's body shop safe (Y=yes or N=no). One goes hand in hand with the other naturally, as a wax is obviously not body shop safe, but as long as I had the marker in my hand and was feeling ingenious

Also shown is a little spout that I got for free from the grab bag table at Auto Zone. Works good on the bottles it fits. Need a couple other sizes, though.

Because I can pour product in and leave it alone to drain in via gravity - Waste less product that way.
