  • Adding Protectant to trim all over the car

I never thought about this until really reading and responding to post on this website but here goes. What are some tips you can share for trim detailing. I'm so used to using an applicator pad that I was blinded to other options to put protectant on trim around the windows, place inside the car , as well as to hard to reach engine spaces.

    do you use paint brushes?

    Do you use tooth brushes?

Just looking for ideas. I did car of the weekend and I had some protectant get on the wipers while trying to apply it too the trim below. I used 20/20 to get the excess off but I would like to take this step out.

Cheap MF cloths and foam paintbrushes are always good to have around.

Then wiping off the excess when possible.

I don't have a lot of plastic, but I use a yellow Soft Foam Applictor Pad to spread my Gold Class Trim Detailer. I used to use a round MF applicator (blue from Walmart) for the trim detailer, but I had troubles keeping it off of the glass and paint and just made a mess. The yellow pad seems to work better for me anyways(maybe no MF strings sticking out...???). The yellow pad also helps in working the product into plastic with ridges and I end up not using as much product, thus my GCTD is going a long ways indeed. The trim around the windows on our Neon is thin and hard to keep the applicator on it, but with the yellow pads, I have better control.....As far as the wipers go, I just wipe the arm and stay away from the wiper it self.

I use those white Even Coat MF applicator Pad (except I have the square ones) to put M40 (or other interior dressing) on the interior (just discovered it and I love it). The white pad works great and it really, spreads the product..... uh ......evenly and thus don't use as much and my M40 will go a long ways.

For the engine, I just spray down the motor with my choice of dressing and let it sit a while and wipe up the excess in the recesses. Just be careful what you spray (belts, alternator, soaking the ECM box, etc).

For the tires, I just bought some foam curved applicators (Eagle One I think) to spread the Endurance Tire Dressing, works great, so far, just used them once. I also use the blue WalMart blue MF applicator pads, they work good for tire dressings.

I hear of some people using paint brush to spread some tire gels on the tires, but as far as everything else, thats about it.

Yeah I use the eagle 1 pads and gel as well. It works great even if I do the insane tire shine.
