When I wash my mustang I do more than just put on the suds on and wash them off, I do an additional job of putting on suds and washing them off again. It does not take off my paint by doing this. It gets more of the grime and dirt off. which then it is easyer to do the next processes.

Re: tip on washing
It does sound odd to be worried about removing paint when washing. But, if you are dealing with an extra dirty car, then there is nothing wrong with changing your soap, or especially rinse water bucket.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: tip on washing
It is not uncommon for me to wash a vehicle that is very dirty, skip the drying process and start over and wash it again. It might surprise you the amount of dirt you have missed.
Besides, it really convinces the neighbors you are totally crazy.
As far as wearing the paint off, I have been known to wash a vehicle three times a week for years.
A daily driver that spent most of its life outdoors looked great after 14 years and 168,000 miles.
As a side note, it was one of those cheap domestic brands, (Chevrolet), and I had to spend about $1200 dollars on the piece of junk for repairs. That is a bit of sarcasm folks. We do presently have both import and domestic vehicles and the reliability of both seems to be excellent and tied almost directly to the maintenance given.
Almost sounds like taking care of the appearance items, doesn't it?Charles

Re: tip on washing
you think washing the car too much will take off paint? that doesnt make any sense to me anyway. and i hear stupid things like its too hot outside to wash the car, it'll damage the paint.
man, when doing a full detail, i wash the car 3 times. yes, 3. and this week alone, since the weather was great, ive washed it quite a bit of times. 3 times sunday. 2 times monday. washed it 2 times tuesday. washed it again today. maybe im nuts, but the car is crazy clean. and no paint is coming off any time soon.
lets jsut say washing your car, hand drying, and then using quik detailer right after is pretty addicting.
2 bucket method FTW! the 'rinse' water will have to be changed before the soap does. but new soap every wash. maybe im car crazy.2001 Granite Sentra Se - Brought back to a brilliant shine via meguiars. took 6+ hours of work. i'm currently loving its' shine.
