this is for pro detailers that know how to use a rotary buffer..... ive been doing this for a while------mix 1 third solo with m80, m82, or any of the fine, medium, or heavy cut cleaners in the 12 oz applicater bottles,,they do mix well.... this will increase play time and produce awsome results.. as well as eliminate buffer swirls....and reduce the time spent buffing a car with the rotary... this info is for rotary use only...

For everyone that reads this for the rest of eternity that this thread exists, let it be noted that this is not a Meguiar's recommendation and if you try this you are completely on your own.

Just the other day ago I tried the Solo System by itself using a rotary buffer on a black single stage urethane finish, (7 years old), and it completely scoured the finish. I then tired M83 and it produced a flawless finish, so I can't emphasize enough the importance of doing a Test Spot and dialing in your system first before doing an entire car and if you're mixing products together and not getting good results then you won't know which product was causing the problem.

For what it's worth, for the last 20+ years Ive been able to dial in a system that produces flawless results using products from the Meguiar's system and not mixing anything.

ive used this method on several differant clear coat finishes(all american) and one mitsubishi. the results have been flawless i wouldnt recommend solo on any single stage paint, i think it would be too agressive.

This was a catalyzed or chemically cured paint.

My point was, test every product before going over the entire car and if you're mixing products and not getting good results then it may be difficult to know which product was causing the problem.

I too have had great results using the Solo system on most of the recent work I've done, just using this 1955 Austin Healey as an example of a paint system that it didn't work on.

I've worked here at the Corporate office for 5 years now and I'm justing trying to point not to your cmd, but to everyone that reads this thread for as long as it lasts that Meguiar's doesn't recommend mixing their products to try to create something new. The abrasives used in Solo are so very different than the abrasives used in the 80's series.

You can do what you want, but as a company, we don't recommend this and anyone that tries it must do it with full knowledge that if it doesn't work or you have problems, we can't stand behind the products if you've mixed them.

i understand what your saying, i was just sharing info of a method that i use to acheive the results i need to wow. i under stand they are different abrasives and that they break down different but it works for me... also any one out there reading this---its at your own risk---the greatest thing about this country is freedom... of speach, of sharing opinions,

And on that note, this is not open public forum, it's a open company owned forum (there's a difference) and at this time anything posted here I'm held accountable for, that is I can get into trouble over if it's not the company line. Thus the reason I chimed in on this thread in the first place... to set the record straight as well as to add a little first hand insight.

Now please dont be mad.. i mixed MG 85 with Menzerna IP and used it with a rotary buffer and the result was very very good

Maybe I'm missing something, but I simply don't get the whole mixing products thing. I get good results with 85, 84, 83, 80, Menzerna IP, Menzerna FPII and others. No mixing necessary, they work just fine on their own.

the thing is.. i want to save time.. and with MG 85 i get out the deep scratches and swirls but i do not get the finish i want... and with IP i get out swirls and the finish i want.. and by mixing them i get all 3 in one step
