  • Purchasing Dawn, which one?

Hey guys, I know this isint the meguiar's "recommended" method to clean pads + MF towels, but I'm gonna be going with Dawn dishwashing detergent. I actually just picked up some today, and wanted to clear it with you guys.. I picked up the "Ultra Concentrated Dawn OXI", is this anybetter then the original one? Having held them both in my hands, the original seemed thicker of a solution, and the oxi one feels a little more runny. There was some "antibacterial" ones too on the shelf, which I did not think was necessary and swiped the Oxi one through the cashier instead..

I wanted to ask, if anybody recommends any dawn over another type of one, or if they are all they same? This oxi one mentions on the labeling "With Active Oxides" and on the back mentioning "Dawn Oxi brings you the power of active oxides to give you a deep down clean on all your dishes, pots, and pans. This formula releases thousands of micro-bubbles and penetrates deep to lift and dissolve grease." My biggest worry was that these active oxides might swirl up the paint finish possibly? Any thoughts on this?

Just get regular Dawn, unless you can get the one with Tony Orlando.

Lol, I doubt I can pick up "Dawn with Concentrated Tony Orlando". On a serious note though, and since I got your attention mike (I seem to see your posts everywhere on the forum helping others, what a nice guy ) I wanted to ask what are ingredients that would be on a 'no-no' list when picking up detergents just for reference? It's hard not to judge a book by it's cover I must say, because this "oxi" version looks well displayed with bubbles on the label . Holding the bottle up, it's soo tempting not to open it and clean my pads, instead to go back to the store and return it for the original. If it makes any kind of a difference, it's colored blue too

I've been using the Oxy Dawn for the last 2 batchs of pads and haven't noticed any problems yet. I have also used some green Dawn (not sure what kind), the oxy stuff seemed to work better.

YOu havent noticed any extra swirling caused by the pads when polishing/waxing or anything with these new active oxides?

I haven't noticed any. I should mention that I have only used this with the yellow foam pad for hand use. I just got my G100 and pads today. But I will use the same cleaning for these too. I let them soak overnight in the soapy water, then rinse them very good and let them soak overnight in clean water. So I don't think much if any of the soap is left in them. I will be sure to pay attention after I clean the machine pads.

I just use a bit of snappy-clean in a bucket and let them soak for about 1 hour, then wash by hand, never thought about dawn

Green Dawn is o.k. but I have found that Red Dawn actually works better. Especially against Cuban and Russian Armies.

That reminds me of one of my favorite movies.
You left out licking the water off. Oh, wait a minute, that's my cat, not my car. Uh, I mean my cat licks himself dry. I don't lick my cat dry. Or my car. -PC.

Regular (blue) dawn will work just fine. But one time I got to try an extra strength version (I think it was called Power Clean) and it did seem to work even better.
