    I recently got my 2005 Black Nissan Altima back from the collision center, as I was pulling it out their seemed to be "holes" in the paint. I pointed it out to the manager and he called them "fisheyes" so he said that he would wet-sand the paint, now I brought it back 6 times for these "fish-eyes" and they keep on wet-sanding. Now my clear coat is fading, i have more of these holes in my paint and is the 7th time I have brought it back. my question is can i have them repaint the car, because i am tired of bring my car back? Does anyone know in california what i can do?

    The collision center should be heald responsible for the fish-eyes.

    Its a result of contaninimants before painting. Tell them you are unpleased with the quality of their work and would expect them to prep a car's surface better than they did.

    Post pictures of the CC, I've sanded done some clear coats with fish eyes, but never really sanded enough to wipe out the CC. They must be using really abrasive methods.

    I would have the re-paint if they cover it, if not haggle them and hold them responsible for their extremly poor quality of work. Also ask if you can see how they prep a car for painting.

      The most of the dealers/body shops around my area offer a "lifetime warranty" on their work. does your dealer/body shop? Sounds like it needs a repaint to do it right.

      I was in a wreck with my 6 month old 2000 s10 xtreme, truck was "fixed" but not up to par. One thing that really drove me nuts.... there was a little over spray on the grill, appeared the masking tape was not adhered to the surface, so the used what looked like a black marker to touch up the over spray(this was one of many problems). Looked VERY bad! They were very willing to fix after a email to the owner of the dealer.

        They definitely have a silicon issue in their shop.

          Yep.... my bet is their "pre delivery prep" guys go through the freshly painted car with either a silicone-containing polish, or use aerosol tire and trim dressing.

            all reputable body shops warranty their work against defects

            if they are not going to take care of it you have 2 options.

            1. If they are a member of the BBB, file a complaint

            2. With proper documentation you may take them to small claims court for reimbursment for repainting the affected areas.

            9 times out of 10 they will cut you a check before your court date.

              Another option is to call your Insurance Company. This is damage caused by them to your vehicle. Ask your insurance company for any advice. This might be one of those instances where you can file a claim and then your insurance company can go after the Body Shop or their insurer for reimbursment. Even if your insurance company won't go for this, they might just go out of their way and help you by offering some advice.

                What Jeff said, if it is an insurance job. they will usually send the appraiser back out if you complain to them. Tell the appraiser you want it repainted and for him to do the final inspection with you when its completed

                  ok i live in the uk, and have worked in bodyshops all my life

                  theres no way you shouldve let this carry on so long, id give them one or two chances to fix not seven

                  get on the phone to your insurance company and tell them you have no faith in this shop ever being able to finish your car to a high standard and they should send the job into a better shop they use
