Pad Cleaning my way

Can you use that technique for applicator pads?

The dish brush is just one from a grocery store its "quickie" thats the brand there wasnt too much labeling I try not to go to crazy when i scrub the pads for fear of tearing them its not an extremely stiff one. Its comparable to the meguiars interior brush bristles. Hope that helps. If any more question feel free to ask. Greg.

Wow! That came out great! I'll give that a try if I ever have a really dirty pad. I've had great success with soaking a few pads in 2-3 gallons of cold water with a couple ounces of Dawn and letting it sit for a while. I know Meguiar's doesn't recommend soaking pads, but I've never had a problem.

Great little write up! Similar to the method that I use to clean mine. Looks like the process worked very well.


I used a brush once on a pad, my guess is the bristles were to stiff as I ended up damaging the pad.

I know there are many different methods that people use to clean there pads but this is the way that has worked for me and I am still on my original pads from last christmas. Now granted the pad I demo'ed this technique with was one that i used the pc with #83 to clean a chrome plastic liscense plate frame that I thought was to far gone. Well it came out great I will let you see the pad.

Yea its disgusting.
To clean the pads I used Dawn direct foam dish soap and a fairly stiff dish brush that I purchased just for this.
I added a little bit of the soap in the bathroom sink and ran slightly warm water

I then dipped the pad into the soapy water to get it slightly damp. And then I gave the pad a few pumps of the foam and massaged it into the pad with my hands.

After I did that i worked the pad in the water rinsing it in the soapy water. I then added another pump of soap to the pad and used the brush only applying a little pressure and using the brush like a dial on a clock not brushing it back and forth.


You may have to repeat that one if need be. I then rinsed the pad by folding it and squeezing it under the running water to allow the dirty water and soap to escape.

Well after all soap is rinsed out you can place the pad in a couple clean microfibers and step on it flatly to help speed up the drying process and sit it somewhere on a towel to air dry.

Now granted this pad did not come out totally perfect but you have to realize I have constantly used this pad since last christmas. Now I would not be afraid to use this pad for anything.
