  • Wet Sanding Questions

    1- After wetsanding using meguiar paper and polishing, still I can see small lines coused by the sanding paper.how can I remove them?and how can I avoid them? Are all sanding paper grades 1000-3000 make the same problem?

    2-How do you sand? all I know that I have to sand in one direction with no pressure and few pass. Do you for example sand 1"x1" line by line? do you overlap each pass?

    Thanks

    What grit did you use? What you are seeing are called tracers. They are where the clear was cut a little deeper. What did you use to cut the wetsanded area? #84 with W-7000, #85 with W-4000, or diff combination?

      Looks like someone could use an NXT tech class.

      The lines (scratches) you mention could be from dirty water, dirty paper, poor sanding form or a number of other reasons.

      Or if your snading correctly maybe your using products that are not agressive enough to remove the sanding marks.

      Also a the wrong combination of pad and product could be a problem with not being agressive enough.

        Hi all,

        Actually I'm practicing wetsanding on my refregrator

        First I used 1000-->1500-->2000

        I sanded first with 1000 grit until I don't see any orange peel then I follow this with 1500 and 2000.

        Then I buffed it with M85+w4000 after that with M83+w7000 and finally M80+w8000

          The finish on refers is unlike automotive paint and products made for automotive uses I guess will not work well on appliances.

          One thing for sure is to step up the agressive level!
