  • new paint???

Ok gang due to some knucklehead backing into me in a drivethru. Yeah i said that my car was repainted. The paint was cured in the booth for 1hr and then left inside the booth for 2days before entering the real world. Now 4weeks later i would really like to have at it. The paint really laid down nice and i dont see a whole lot of correction needed .I was going to start with Ult Pol to get a nice mirror finish and top with Ult paste wax. Do you think its to soon to start caring for this paint???

    Re: new paint???

You can clay, polish right away.

The heated curing is nice, and will speed things up. But you could call the bodyshop to be sure if it is safe to wax yet.

So you were in the drive thru and someone threw it in reverse and backed into you?? That's hilarious, (im laughing at the person who backed up) what were they trying to accomplish, they forgot the ketchup packets?? But yeah your paint is probabaly about ready to lay some wax on, maybe another couple weeks or like Murr said, call the dealer.

        Re: new paint???

we were in line just before you get into the concreted curbed run to the speakerbox and they decided the line was not moving fast enough for them. They thru it into reverse and proceeded to back into me with there suv. Now keep in mind my car is lowered more than in my avatar now and they claimed they couldnt see me. I responded to well what about the 139db horn going off. To top it off all 4 windows were down. Then in my little fit of rage i asked them if you couldnt see me what about a kid on a bike!!!! That one sunk in a little bit i hope. My car sees roughly 25,000 a year so she's no trailer queen but you can see by my avatar not really a slouch either.

Lmao, I can totally see that happening. People these days I swear. I seen some kid out at college ram into someone while sitting in line for a stop sign. I guess instead of idling up a car length he wanted to use the accelerator. Anyway sorry about the thread derail lol.

The typical cure time for body shop fresh paint is 60-90 days before it is advised to apply a protectant. It would be best to check with the painter on their recommendations. Sorry to hear about the accident!

Well the age advice of this forum comes thru once again. I have been advised to polish away at will but wait the 60-90 days before applying wax.
