  • Wet sanding rubber?

    Hello folks,
So I had some gunk build up on one of the quarter windows of a honda we bought about a month ago. It scrubbed off with a dobe pad but left the rubber undernead looking dull and dirty. I tried some swirlx on it just to see if it would make a dent but to no avail. I posted a pic on the honda forum and one guy suggested wet sanding it and then polishing it out. I'm curious about wet sanding rubber, I would probably just go straight with 2000 or 3000 because I would be afraid anything else would gum up in low grit paper. Any suggestions, here's what the spot looks like.

    Re: Wet sanding rubber?

I had a very similar issue with my wife's Dodge Magnum on the lower portion of the windows. I did not wet sand, but I did use a very diluted amount of APC and a soft/medium/hard tooth brush. You have to be careful to stay on the rubber as much as possible so your not scrubbing away at the paint. Then I put some Ultimate Black on and it looks almost like new. Hope this helps

Almost appears that rubber had a top coat of some sort on it that is rubbed off?
