I just finished painting the tub of my 69 Bronco with Omni Urethane paint. It seems like it cured ok but I can still scratch it with a light rubing of my finger nail. I am afraid it will not be as durable as I would like. I would like a harder finish. This is one of those times I would like to choke the sales man who talked me into using it instead of the Concept. The reason I used single stage instead of b/c is that I wanted an orginal look and was afraid the b/c would be to shinny. Can I sand it and spray Concept over it or perhaps a Clear Coat without any problems? The paint looks good it is just a little soft. It sanded and buffed out good. Thanks

Re: Help with Omni Urethane
We're going to have to defer to someone here on MOL with more painting knowledge to answer this one fully. We can, however, suggest you contact the paint company themselves and ask for their recommendations regarding this.Michael Stoops

Re: Help with Omni Urethane
What were the temps when you sprayed, and what hardener/reducer did you use? It almost sounds like you may have used the wrong products to match the conditions when you applied your paint.
Unfortunately if that does turn out to be the case, the best way to go about fixing it is probably going to be to strip the finish back down to at least the primer and re-spray with either concept or you can use Omni again with a hardener/reducer better matched to your spray conditions. If you just scuff it enough for some tooth and put more paint over top of what's already not well adhered it's still going to delaminate from the substrate over time and be less durable than you want.
Just curious, but why didn't you go with DuPont Imron if you wanted extreme durability and weren't concerned about highly refined DOI from a base/clear system?
As Mike mentioned, you may also want to contact PPG's tech line or look around for some P-sheets that can shed more light on what you're experiencing.

Yep, sounds like a hardener/reducer problem to me...
..... I do believe PPG makes a Clearcoat for Omni.-Jake

If the thread starter does go back and redo everything with concept, good old DCU 2021 clear will be the compatible choice.
