  • Can wetsanding glass remove scratches?

I have several scratches in the glass of my passenger door. I did the fingernail test and my nail gets caught slightly in the scratch. This leads me to believe there isn't much I can do to get it out since its fairly deep. I was just wondering if wetsanding the glass then polishing it would remove the scratches? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Edit: I thought it was scratches on paint

Not on glass.....cerium oxide is about the only thing I know of that "might" remove it. But if you can feel it with your fingernail, I doubt it.

In theory, yes, but then you'll be left with sanding scratches that won't necessarily be any easier to get rid of - you can't just buff out glass like you can paint except with cerium oxide as SVT Lightning mentioned. That process isn't as straightforward as correcting defects in paint though!

Unless you really know what you're doing, keep the sand paper away from the glass. You'll take a small scratch and turn it into a really big mess.

I'm glad I asked and didn't just experiment! The last thing I want to do is take a small defect and make it very noticable...thanks!
