First time wetsanding.

Hi!

It's getting pretty warm here and I always wanted a show car shine that I see in photos all the time. I plan to detail in the summer and I was close to during a DA and pads and such but lack of money.
So right now I have a lot of products and arm power.
My spoiler looks like someone used scotchbrite on it. There are scratches into clear coat but they don't catch my fingernails. They aren't really visual unless you are one of "US".

Anyway I tried varies products, ScratchX, UC and even tried the new rubbing compound. They still won't go away and didn't even look like they moved.
So right now I am tempted on trying to wetsand it with 2000 or 3000 grit and then hand polishing it. Should I try it? and what product should I use?

When you say they moved.... did it seem like the ones that were there, esp deeper, are gone, but new added? If you paid attention to that sort of thing.

You should try wetsanding on a junkyard piece to see if you can remove the sanding marks by hand. My guess is it would be pretty tough.

Nope they were still there. Didn't seem like it even cut the scratches. BTW I used a foam pad. Perhaps I should use a terry clothes?

How exactly did you apply the UC by hand? Specifically, how large an area did you work at a time, how long did you work it, and how vigorously did you apply the product?

If you seriously attacked the finish with UC and it did nothing, then you're likely to have an equally difficult time pulling out your sanding marks if you go that route. Since you may be working on really hard paint, let's look at some other options before you jump in with wet sanding.
