  • small rust spot from rock

I don't know what took me so long to see this, but here we are. There is a small spot of rust (about 1/2 cm in diameter) above my windshield.

Anyway, I'm not very familiar with most techniques but I'd like to avoid bringing it to a shop and paying ridiculous prices if it is something fairly easy to do.

Any suggestions? I doubt it would help, but I do have a porter cable random orbital buffer.

    Thanks in advance

If you want the easiest way...

Get a real fine sand paper to remove the rust and loose edges.

Get a toothpick and your touch up paint. Dab in a little to cover the rust, and let it dry. Then dab in some more and let it dry, etc.

Keep it simple, like Matt said, find a way to somehow clean the area from any loose rust, wipe clean using a simple solvent like rubbing alcohol. Next dab on tiny amounts of touch up paint, don't apply too much or you'll go from a chip to a blob.
