  • Question about the Unigrit Blocks

I got an MEGK2000 block and I just opened the package. I noticed 5 of the 6 sides are gray but the last one is green. Is this green side any different or what is it? Thanks.

I beleive it simply is there to tell you the "Grit" of that block. If you had the 1000, 1500 and 2000 lined up side by side out of packaging, they would all look the same. Thus, one end is colored so you use the one you want.

Thanks that makes plenty of sense. That colored surface can still be used to sand with right?

You can still use the colored end, but once the color is gone you may not know what grit the block is even though the grit is also marked on the side of the block in normal type.

Some people will use their own marking system somewhere on the block to indicate the grit in case our markings get removed.

Thanks Mike. I only really have the 2000 grit. I am afraid to go any rougher. I tried to order the MEGK3000 but I was told by the place I ordered from that it was discontinued. Is this block still available somewhere? If so I would love to order one. Even a 2500 grit would be good too.

Could always go with the paper if you wanted 3000 I guess.

Thanks for the heads up. I googled MEGK3000 and found a place that said they had them in stock. I ordered one, maybe I should have ordered two . Is there any chance the 3000 would come back or maybe for a 2500 to be created? Maybe I am just to antsy about using sandpaper on a block.
