A little confused on some product differences?

Hello,

I've read most of the threads in the marine section, however, I'm still a little bit confused on which product to use. I have a small section on my hull that has some light to moderate oxidation. Should I be using M67? M49? They seem to almost do the same thing by their descriptions? Should they be applied with the maroon, yellow or black pad with my Meguiar's DA? And lastly, what is the difference between flagship premium cleaner wax and flagship premium marine wax as they are both for boats and seem so similar. There just seems to be so many products that are so simliar with just slight tweaks?

If your boat is newer and in pretty good shape,then the M49 on a yellow pad should suffice for removing a small area of mild oxidation. follow up with the Flagship Marine wax on a black pad.
The M67 is the next step up in aggressiveness for polishing and removing oxidation that may be more severe.
The difference in the Flagship cleaner wax is it is kind of like an all in one product containing polish,cleaners and wax.
This could be used if you have only very minor oxidation and your gelcoat is in pretty good shape. You could use this and not need any polish.

You can also use the maroon pad on a boat if needed.

And the best wax would be the Flagship Wax, since it doesn't have the other ingredients doing other jobs as well.

Thanks guys. My gelcoat is in very good shape (exept that one small part where the sun gets through the car port and hits it each day) as I am pretty meticulous with it. With your information I'll go with the standard Meguiar's "least agressive" apporach and try the M49 & yellow pad. Appreciate the quick feedback.

M67 and M49 do basically the same thing, that's true. But looking at it in that basic of a sense is like saying 80 grit sandpaper does the same thing 3000 grit sandpaper does. M67 is the more aggressive of the two products, but the overall level of aggressiveness can be adjusted by using a more or less aggressive pad, higher or lower machine speed, more or less pressure, etc.

For very light oxidation you may find that M49 is all the strength you need to get the job done, and most likely with yellow foam polishing pad. If the oxidation is moderate to severe then stepping up to M67 will be a huge time saver. You can use it with either a yellow polishing pad or a burgundy cutting pad.

Flagship Premium Marine Wax basically comes in two flavors - cleaner and non cleaner. If you've got a pristine finish then there's no need to use the cleaner version, but if you're looking to do some very light one step maintenance then the cleaner version is probably a better choice.
