Ok folks I am working on a very oxidized boat and have been having very good success using #49 oxidation remover along with a wool pad on a rotary. My question is there are many areas on this boat that I can not get to using this large machine and the 7-8" wool pads. I have tried using the remover by hand and by a orange cutting foam pad on a orbital but the results are not the same. I was wondering what you folks use?

Re: Using #49 and a wool pad.
I just finished up 2 boats. One 1973 MFG that was bad and a 1992 Hurricane that was worse. For small areas I used 49 with a 4 inch purple foam wool pad from lake country. it worked great and I could get in most of the small areas. If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

Re: Using #49 and a wool pad.
For areas that you can't get by machine even with small pads, fall back on the old-fashioned tried but true terry cloth towel. Take quality terry cloth towel with a 100% cotton nap, cut a piece off the towel about 4" to 6" square, fold this in half and that's you're new applicator pad. Put a little passion behind the pad, (elbow grease), and get at it.

Jokeman- I take it the 4" foam pad is being used on a machine, which machine takes a pad that small?
Mike- Thanks for the response I will give the terry cloth a try although there are many areas and it may be tough to do them all by hand. My question is there such a thing as a small rotary machine and smaller wool pads?

I had great luck with them and 49. Becareful if you have any pinstripping on the boat. The foamed wool does not play well with them. It actually melts them quick! Wasnt a problem for me since I was taking them off my boat anyways. If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.
