Hi, can anyone please tell me if the MG's wool pad are made of 100% wool or woolblend? If they are made of Wool & Acrylic, what's the mixture like? Thank you

As Ronald Reagan said, trust but verify. It's fairly easy to tell what a fabric is by how it burns. Wool leaves a fowl oder like hair burning and burns to a soft ash, a synthetic like polyster/acrylic balls up and gets hard like melted plastic. Cut a small piece of the alleged wool and burn it and see. You don't know how many times I've bought 100% pure wool and it wasn't. We used to make wool string covers for grand pianos and wool absorbs moisture, polyester/acrylic traps moisture so it was key that we had a high wool content.

Personally I only used wool pads for heavy duty cutting after wet sanding a non-clearcoat car that had the paint put on too thick. I wouldn't use it on clear coats myself but some pro's like to work a lot faster than me and can handle it. I think the risk is too great and stick with the safety of foam pads. Even Meg's red foam pad is too risky on clear coat. I would rather do multiple applications with a less agressive pad than run the risk of damaging the paint. Afterall, you polish to remove paint, just depends on how much paint you want to remove how fast.

I dunno - I used a 4" Wool pad twisted followed by yellow 50/50 both by Lake Country w/ fine cut rubbing compound and then a 3m knitted wool with Machine Glaze on FRESH paint touch up work on fenders last week and it came out beautiful with a rotary at about 1500 rpm .
The finish was actually swirl free after the 2nd wool pad , but I went with machine glaze for extra gloss .
Just depends if you know the limits I think , but overall yes foam is a LOT safer , but foam also builds heat quicker , so proper movement is essential .Buffin' aint easy , but somebody's gotta do it !
