  • help on buffing

Hello, I am new to the meguiars site. it looks like a really good site and i think i will learn alot here. anyway, the car is a 1979 trans am. It was painted basecoat clear coat black and I wet sanded with 1500 then 2000 grit. I purchased a compound by 3M called finish it III, but by another car enthusiast i was recommended a meguiars compound. what is the best compound for taking out light sanding marks and also bringing the dark, rich color back.
    thanks
    Jake

    Hi Jake,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

To remove 2000 grit sanding marks, I would suggest using the #85 Diamond Cut 2.0 with a W-4000 Wool pad with the rotary buffer spinning 1700 RPM. Follow this with #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish with a W-8006 Polishing Pad with the rotary spinning 1700 RPM. Then, I would use #80 Speed Glaze with a W-8006 Polishing Pad with a PC set to speed 5.

To finish, top off with 2 coats of NXT Tech Wax.

    It will look awesome!!!

I just wet sanded and buffed out a truck today and combos I suggested above are the ones I have used many many times!
