I went into Pep Boys tonight to pick up my gallon jug of #34 (online places wanted way too much to ship it) and I noticed that they had a couple of W68 rotary buffing pads for sale, and an entire collection of Soft Buff NON-2.0 pads right next to them. After reading the post about backing plates that Mr. Stoops wrote, I now know that this is not an ideal match-up.
So I grabbed the manager and tried to explain that customers coming in and buying a W68 backing plate with 7000, 8000, and 9000 pads were getting the wrong match-up (and will likely blame the product when the pad flies off), and I could tell pretty quickly I was wasting my time. He nodded and looked around while I was explaining it, obviously waiting for me to go away.
Oh well. I tried.
