  • recommendation of a buffer?

I'm looking for a buffer/polisher to do a small job on the car. There's a few scratches and swirl marks I wanna work out and doing it buy hand is REALLY time consuming (not that I'm trying to speed it up, just don't get much improvement). So is there any cheap machines I can use for the time being until I can later upgrade to something bigger and better?

I'd reccomend spending some money and get a cyclo, flex or meguiars polisher. You get what you pay for.
Even the best cars look like junk when they are not clean

You really can't go wrong between a Porter Cable, Meguiars, or Griots DA Polisher.

What do you mean by "cheap"?
Before I picked up my Griot's Garage 6", i bought a Griot's Garage 3" for $94.99, some polish pads & finish pads....total was about $120 and free shipping direct from Griot's Garage.
Great tool for smaller jobs, worth every penny in my books.

Are you talking cheap like an orbital you'd find at an auto parts store? Don't even bother with that, it won't do what you want. Just dump the money now and get the Megs or Griots Garage one.

            Re: recommendation of a buffer?

Others here have summed it up well. The Porter Cable 7424XP is probably the best option for a useful machine that is the cheapest, they retail for around $125. You may be able to find one used for less, or pick up the discontinued base 7424. The non-XP version does not have as much power but is still a decent machine.

If you can justify a little more money than this the Meguiar's G110v2 is a very nice setup, and you get a world class company that stands behind it should there be any issues. These can be purchased for around $145.
